ELKHART, Ind. (Mennonite Church USA) — Mennonite Church USA welcomes Leah Hoffner as the Mennonite Church USA executive assistant. Hoffner began her new position Dec. 3. As the executive assistant, Hoffner provides administrative assistance for MC USA’s executive director and associate executive directors, the Executive Board, Constituency Leaders Council, and Delegate Assembly. She will serve as an advisor to the executive director and associate executive directors, plan and coordinate in-person and online meetings, help coordinate staff events and take meeting minutes.
“Leah brings experience as an administrative assistant with organizational skills and a strong focus on details,” said Iris de León-Hartshorn, MC USA’s associate executive director of Operations and director of Human Resources. “One of the many things that stood out was her calmness and centering presence, which we need in the work we do.”
Prior to her position with MC USA, Hoffner worked in social services at two different retirement communities and taught at an early childhood center. She served a one-year term in Americus, Georgia, as part of Mennonite Mission Network’s Mennonite Voluntary Service. Hoffner holds both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in social work from Millersville (Pennsylvania) University.
“I was raised in the Mennonite church and align closely with the values of MC USA,” said Hoffner. “I am easily adaptable to new experiences and bring a positive energy to everything I do. I also have a natural affinity for lists, calendars and critical thinking that will serve me well in this role and benefit the MC USA staff.”
Mennonite Church USA is an Anabaptist Christian denomination, founded in 2002 by the merger of the Mennonite Church and the General Conference Mennonite Church. Members of this historic peace church seek to follow Jesus by rejecting violence and resisting injustice. MC USA’s Renewed Commitments state the following shared commitments among its diverse body of believers: to follow Jesus, witness to God’s peace and experience the transformation of the Holy Spirit.
