ELKHART, Ind.—Marty Lehman, staff person for the Mennonite Church USA Executive Board, announced her resignation on Dec. 4.
Her final date in this role may be as late as December 2014. She has been serving as associate executive director for churchwide operations since July 2004.
“I have enjoyed my time with Mennonite Church USA,” she said on Dec. 4. “I have been given opportunities I never imagined possible. I’ve met people who have inspired and mentored me. I’ve had the opportunity to see and experience Mennonite Church USA from the West coast to the East coast from the North to the South. It has been a blessing beyond words. I am so grateful to God for this rich experience.”
Prior to joining the Executive Board staff in 2004, Lehman served as president at Adriel in West Liberty, Ohio, and in administrative roles with Mennonite Mission Network, Mennonite Board of Missions and Goshen (Ind.) College.
“I would like to make a change, and after 10 years, this seems like a good time,” she said. “Since I am not leaving to take another position, my last date is flexible, with the understanding that it won’t exceed December 2014.”
At this point, no plans have been put into place about who will assume her responsibilities after she leaves. Stutzman and the Executive Board cabinet will give leadership to this after the holidays.
Lehman and her husband, Rex Hooley, are members of College Mennonite Church in Goshen.
