Church retirement plan made easier
Mennonite Retirement Trust enhances services this fall
GOSHEN, Ind.—Mennonite Retirement Trust (MRT), the retirement saving plan for pastors and staff of church organizations, has been enhancing its services this fall. Beginning Nov. 15, MRT will offer new services to churches, organizations and their employees, thanks to a new partnership with Great-West Retirement Services. Great-West is a large service provider to church retirement plans around the United States. Investment options are also being enhanced.
MRT is the official retirement plan of Mennonite Church USA and is administered by the church’s stewardship agency, Everence. More than 400 congregations, 140 church-related organizations and 10,000 individuals (pastors and organizations’ employees) participate in MRT.
“The MRT changes are timely and will provide valuable new services to our participants,” said Marty Lehman, director of churchwide operations for Mennonite Church USA. “Everence is being responsive to participants’ needs, helping MRT continue to be a solid retirement plan for pastors and employees of our Mennonite organizations.”
“We’re pleased to improve services to congregations, organizations and their employees,” said Bill Hartman, vice president of Everence organization services. “The new investment choices are intended to help participants to more easily address their retirement needs without requiring much investment knowledge. The enhanced web presence and tools makes MRT highly accessible and flexible to meet the expectations and needs of today’s employees.”
New features that will be offered:
- Daily account valuation: Allowing employers and participants to know account balances on any date
- Web tools and education: Giving participants calculators and other information to help improve their investment decisions as well as more phone- and web-based services
- New investment options: Adding investment portfolio choices, include target date options that help participants to simplify their investments
