Ministerial Sexual Misconduct Policy and Procedure is a resource to equip Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada to address ministerial sexual misconduct directly and boldly.
This work builds upon a previous policies and procedures document developed by denominational leaders throughout Mennonite Church USA and Mennonite Church Canada in 2000 as a guide for congregations and area conferences addressing a variety of ministerial ethical misconduct, including sexual misconduct.
The revised and updated policies and procedures incorporate valuable input from all of our area conference ministers, survivors of ministerial sexual abuse, professionals who work with sexual abuse, and legal counsel in both the USA and Canada. We commend this work to all parts of the church as one aspect of taking seriously the reality of ministerial sexual misconduct.
Besides sexual misconduct, this Policy and Procedure can also be used for other ethical issues as outlined in A Shared Understanding of Ministerial Leadership (section 4-Ethics in Ministry).
