At the end of a two-year term (Jan. 2016-18) the Panel on Sexual Abuse Prevention created guidelines for response when non-credentialed individuals are accused of sexualized violence in the context of congregations, conferences and organizations.
This resource is not a legal document, and the guidelines it contains are not meant to replace the legal process. This resource is a starting point to help guide leaders in our Mennonite Christian communities to prevent and respond appropriately to sexual abuse. All who utilize this resource must carefully review the recommendations and discuss how they will execute them in their context. We always recommend consultation with local sexual abuse centers, legal counsel and victim advocacy organizations.
