The images that are part of The Commons have no known copyright restrictions, indicating that the Mennonite Church USA Archives is unaware of any current copyright restrictions on the works displayed. The reasons for there being no known copyright restrictions are many. In some cases, the term of copyright may have expired and not been renewed; in other cases, we believe no copyright restrictions apply. Additionally, when the Mennonite Church USA Archives holds copyright for images, we deliberately choose not to exercise those rights. The user of the images must understand that the Mennonite Church USA Archives cannot guarantee that your private use of the images on The Commons will not violate the rights of unidentified copyright holders, and the Mennonite Church USA Archives cannot be responsible for any liability resulting from your use of these images.
The photos in our collections are meant to be used for personal, educational or research purposes. The Mennonite Church USA Archives is committed to making our collections of images available to the public for personal research and enjoyment. However, the archives charges scanning fees for high resolution copies of images and use fees for publishing our images or using them commercially. These fees help fund our continued efforts to care for our collections. If you are interested in obtaining a high resolution image for publication or commercial use, please see our Permissions to Publish Images resource.
