Call for Equipping Seminars at MennoCon19

(Mennonite Church USA) — Convention planners are seeking proposals for Equipping Seminars at MennoCon19, the MC USA biennial convention that will take place in Kansas City, Missouri on July 2-6, 2019.

The convention planning team is calling for seminars, workshops and trainings to provide interactive learning experiences and introduce practical tools, skills, habits or frameworks that youth and adult participants can take home and put into practice. Convention planners are also seeking seminars to be presented in Spanish or other languages.

“Our vision is that convention be a place where we equip the church in very practical ways to be the church,” said Shana Peachey Boshart, denominational minister for faith formation of MC USA. “We want presenters to provide accessible, practical skills that youth and adults can use right away, and even teach others.”

The updated convention schedule includes longer afternoon slots designed for more in-depth trainings.

Those interested in offering an Equipping Seminar are encouraged to consider the list of criteria found on the convention website, which suggests focus areas of witness, formation, discernment and leadership.

“We know that seminars are a big part of the youth convention experience, so we are looking for seminars that are personal, enjoyable and relevant to their lives,” said Peachey Boshart. “I hope presenters can think in terms of how seminars can help people live their faith as a joyful expression of love for God.”
